Azerbaijan and Korea explore cooperation along Middle Corridor
An event titled “The Middle Corridor and Its Prospects: The Future of Connectivity Between Azerbaijan, Korea, and Eurasia,” co-organized by the Azerbaijan-based Center of Analysis of International Relations (AIR Center) and the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Azerbaijan, was held in Baku.
The event focused on the role of the Middle Corridor in developing regional and international transport and logistics links, as well as opportunities to enhance cooperation between Azerbaijan and Korea. Discussions also addressed ways to strengthen connectivity across Eurasia and expand trade relations.
Farid Shafiyev, Chairman of the Board of the AIR Center, noted that the Middle Corridor had gained particular significance amid growing demand for stable and secure connectivity between Asia and Europe.
Kang Kymgu, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Azerbaijan, emphasized that the event aimed to deepen understanding of the Middle Corridor’s strategic importance and explore opportunities for cooperation between Korea and Azerbaijan. He noted that developments in the South Caucasus were being closely monitored, partly because of certain similarities between the geopolitical situations of Korea and Azerbaijan.
The event also featured panel discussions on international security in the South Caucasus and the Middle Corridor, as well as the C6 format and the Republic of Korea.
