New Azerbaijan Party delegation visits China

At the invitation of the Communist Party of China (CPC), a delegation from the New Azerbaijan Party (YAP) visited the People’s Republic of China.

On September 10, the delegation toured the CPC Museum, where they were briefed on the history of China and the CPC. They viewed exhibits, rare collections, and displays reflecting the country’s and the party’s past.

The delegation then met with Sun Haiyan, Vice Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee. The meeting highlighted the significance of President Ilham Aliyev’s state visit to China in April, his participation in the “SCO Plus” meeting in Tianjin on September 1, and his attendance at the parade marking the 80th anniversary of the Chinese People’s Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the Victory in World War II on September 3, as milestones advancing bilateral relations.

Sun Haiyan stressed the strengthening of friendly relations between the two countries, underpinned by a comprehensive strategic partnership. She emphasized the importance of deepening cooperation and mutual exchange of experience between the CPC and YAP, describing Azerbaijan as a vital partner for China in the South Caucasus and a key bridge between Asia and Europe. She also underlined the importance of cooperation within the Belt and Road Initiative, as well as in science, education, and culture.

Hikmat Mammadov, YAP Executive Board member and member of the Azerbaijan-China Interparliamentary Working Group, stated that the dynamic development of relations between the two countries is driven by the political will of President of Azerbaijan and YAP Chairman Ilham Aliyev, and President of China and CPC General Secretary Xi Jinping. He noted that mutually beneficial relations across various fields serve the national interests of both states.

Mammadov also highlighted the role of inter-party relations in strengthening the comprehensive strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and China, pointing to the memorandum of cooperation signed between YAP and CPC during the November 2024 visit to China led by YAP Deputy Chairman and Head of the Central Apparatus Tahir Budagov.

The meeting also included discussions on other issues of mutual interest.
