Azerbaijan organizes iftar dinner and aid campaign in Syria

Iftar events under the motto “Brotherly Azerbaijani and Syrian peoples together in the month of mercy” were held on the initiative of the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Syria, organized by the Local Council of Al-Otaiba in the Eastern Ghouta district of Damascus Governorate, and supported by the Azerbaijan International Development Agency (AIDA).

On March 5, an iftar dinner was organized in the courtyard of the village school for 500 fasting people.

Addressing the event, Chargé d'affaires Elnur Shahhuseynov stated that Azerbaijan attaches special importance to developing friendship and cooperation with Syria.

Mohammad al-Shayeb, a member of the People's Assembly of Syria, expressed gratitude to the Azerbaijani government for the collective iftar meals and food aid, noting that the humanitarian actions were met with special appreciation by the local population.

On March 7, Azerbaijan distributed a total of 500 food packages to children who had lost both parents, as well as to people struggling with poverty.
