Combating disinformation and harnessing AI in focus at Bishkek Media Forum

The 2026 Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Media and Think Tank Summit, marking the organization's 25th anniversary, concluded on Monday in Bishkek.

The event brought together nearly 250 representatives from 26 countries, including heads of leading news agencies, media representatives, think tanks, research institutes, government agencies, and international organizations.

Representatives of AZERTAC, the Media Development Agency of Azerbaijan, and Trend News Agency represented Azerbaijan at the forum.

During plenary sessions and thematic sessions, participants engaged in discussions on trade and economic cooperation, development of infrastructure relations, green development, cultural and humanitarian ties, inter-civilizational dialogue, as well as the role of new technologies.

Highlighting the importance of information and expert collaboration within the SCO framework, participants proposed joint initiatives to boost ties between media outlets and think tanks.

The forum, held under the theme "The SCO in a New Era: From Mutual Understanding to Practical Cooperation" was co-organized by Kyrgyzstan's Kabar National News Agency and China's Xinhua News Agency.
