Baku hosts the 9th meeting of the CICA Youth Council

The 9th meeting of the Youth Council of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA) was held in Baku within the framework of Azerbaijan's 2024–2026 CICA chairmanship.

The National Anthem was played at the opening ceremony.

Subsequently, Farid Gayibov, Minister of Youth and Sports, and Kairat Sarybay, Secretary General of CICA, delivered speeches. They stated that deepening cooperation, exchanging experiences, and supporting joint initiatives among youth within the CICA framework would contribute to the formation of more inclusive, innovative, and sustainable urban communities. This was followed by the screening of a video presentation.

A total of 120 delegates from 17 CICA member states participated in the event, which was dedicated to the theme " Youth Engagement in Advancing Sustainable Urban Development."

Following the adoption of the agenda, the meeting continued its work under the chairmanship of Indira Hajiyeva, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports. Within the framework of the session, speeches by the heads of delegations were heard, and the Recommendations Document of the 9th meeting of the CICA Youth Council was discussed.

In the second half of the day, a training session was organized to prepare for the " CICA Youth Speech and Debate Competition". During the session, participants received training on debate techniques and the Karl Popper format, and were provided with detailed information regarding the competition theme and debate topics.
