Olympic House of Azerbaijan opens in Paris
The Olympic House of Azerbaijan was inaugurated at the Cultural Center of the Azerbaijani Embassy in France to mark the 33rd Summer Olympic Games, Trend reports.
The opening ceremony featured prominent attendees, including Azerbaijan's Minister of Youth and Sports Farid Gayibov, Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) Azer Aliyev, NOC Vice President Chingiz Huseynzade, Minister of Digital Development and Transport Rashad Nabiyev, Azerbaijan's Ambassador to France Leyla Abdullayeva, Türkiye’s Ambassador to France Yunus Demirer, Permanent Representative of Azerbaijan to UNESCO Elman Abdullayev, the Charge d'Affaires of the Russian Embassy, and representatives from various Olympic committees, local community members, Azerbaijani diaspora, and journalists.
Ambassador Abdullayeva and Vice President Huseynzade highlighted that Azerbaijan is represented by 48 athletes competing in 15 sports at the 33rd Summer Olympic Games. They provided an overview of Azerbaijan's Olympic history, noting that the country first participated in the Olympics as an independent nation in 1996, and has since achieved significant success. They expressed confidence that Azerbaijani athletes will continue this trend at the current Games.
The main objective of the Olympic House of Azerbaijan is to showcase the nation's history, culture, music, and cuisine during the Olympics. It will also serve as a venue to celebrate the victories of Azerbaijani athletes. The Olympic House will host daily thematic programs, allowing visitors to follow the progress of Azerbaijani competitors and meet with the athletes.
Publications from the Azerbaijan Olympic Committee were presented and distributed to the attendees. The event concluded with a performance of Azerbaijani music by young singer Mardan Kazimov.
