China’s Prosecutor General visits Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis
Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis, met with a delegation led by Ying Yong, Chief Grand Prosecutor and Prosecutor General of the Supreme People’s Procuratorate (SPP) of the People’s Republic of China, in Baku.
The Speaker of the Milli Majlis underlined that, since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and China in 1992, ties between the two countries have developed on the basis of friendship, mutual respect, and support. She noted that Azerbaijan has consistently supported the “One China” policy, while China has always supported Azerbaijan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Emphasizing the special importance of high-level reciprocal visits in strengthening bilateral relations, Sahiba Gafarova highlighted the significance of President Ilham Aliyev’s visits to China and the signing of the Joint Declaration on Strategic Partnership between the two countries.
The Speaker of the Milli Majlis underscored the current state of and prospects for cooperation with the Chinese parliament. She recalled her working visit to China in March this year and her meeting with Zhao Leji, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of China. The Speaker also shared her views on the activities of the interparliamentary working groups.
During the meeting, relations between the New Azerbaijan Party and the Communist Party of China were described as one of the examples of mutually beneficial political cooperation between Azerbaijan and China.
Commending the high level of relations between Azerbaijan and China, Ying Yong specifically noted President Ilham Aliyev’s visits to China in 2025 and his meetings with President Xi Jinping of the People’s Republic of China.
Speaking about the development of relations between the prosecutorial authorities of the two countries, the Prosecutor General stated that close cooperation would make a significant contribution to protecting the rights of citizens of both countries and preventing crime.
The guests also toured the plenary session hall of the Milli Majlis and familiarized themselves with the working conditions there.
