A new park to open near The Ritz-Carlton Baku hotel
About the start of preparatory work A new park is planned to be created on the territory leading up to The Ritz-Carlton Baku hotel on 28 May Street in the Nasimi district of Baku, Oxu.Az reports citing the Baku City Executive Power. It is noted that preparatory work has already begun within the framework of the park project, which will cover an area of approximately 10 hectares. During the initial inspection of the territory, trees in an emergency (hazardous) condition were identified. "We are talking mainly about poplars, which were massively planted in Baku in the 1980s. The weak root system of these trees increases the risk of them falling and creates certain threats to the environment and human safety. Taking into account the current situation, as part of the preparatory work, it is planned to remove hazardous trees from the territory, and in the future, to create a park with an extensive green zone, build an underground parking lot, and plant a significant number of new trees."
On felling rules "Unfortunately, it should be noted that during the work, a fact of non-compliance with agrotechnical rules when cutting down one tree by employees of the Greening Economy Association was revealed. Despite the fact that the tree trunk was rotted from the inside, this does not remove the need to comply with relevant rules when felling it. Even if a tree is in an emergency condition or its trunk has rotted, the process of its removal must be carried out in accordance with established agrotechnical requirements," the Executive Power noted. The statement reports that in connection with the identified violation, appropriate administrative disciplinary measures were immediately taken. Also, for the shortcomings allowed in the work, an employee of the association was dismissed from his post. "At the same time, employees of the Greening Economy Association were again instructed to conduct explanatory activities among residents living in the vicinity regarding the work being carried out on the territory, and to provide them with detailed information about the purpose of the ongoing work and the risks posed by hazardous trees," the information states.
