Speaker of Milli Majlis Meets with Chairman of Bahrain’s Shura Council

On January 25, during her official visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain, Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova met with Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh, Chairman of the Shura Council of this country.

Welcoming the Speaker of the Azerbaijani parliament, Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh expressed his confidence that this visit would contribute to further deepening relations between our countries and parliaments. He stated that his country is interested in expanding cooperation with Azerbaijan and emphasized the importance of further broadening inter-parliamentary ties in this context.

Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova expressed her gratitude for the high-level hospitality shown and highlighted that the first official visit of the Speaker of the Azerbaijani parliament to Bahrain would provide an opportunity to hold discussions on further deepening our relations.

During the conversation, they noted that both peoples share common religious and cultural values that unite the two friendly countries. The sides emphasized the great potential for the development of bilateral relations in all areas and expressed confidence that political contacts and mutual visits in various fields between the two states would give impetus to the development of ties.

The meeting highlighted the positive cooperation between the two countries within various international and regional organizations such as the United Nations, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and the Non-Aligned Movement, with satisfaction expressed regarding mutual support in these organizations.

Issues of cooperation between the legislative bodies were discussed during the conversation. they pointed out that effective cooperation ties have been established between the parliaments of Azerbaijan and Bahrain. Mutual visits at the level of the speakers of both countries' parliaments have contributed to further deepening these relations.

Speaker Sahiba Gafarova recalled with pleasure her previous meetings with the Chairman of the Shura Council, as well as Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh's participation in the conference of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network held in Manama. They emphasized that the Parliament of Bahrain is represented in all conferences and parliamentary events of this important parliamentary platform, including its leading bodies.
