61

Seismic field operations on the Ustyurt geological exploration project in Uzbekistan, operated by the Azerbaijan State Oil Company (SOCAR), have been successfully completed, the company said in a response to the inquiry from AZERTAC.

"The Ustyurt project is being successfully implemented in line with the policy established by President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The Ustyurt geological exploration project was launched in December 2025. During this period, despite the harsh climate and limited communication opportunities, seismic field operations were successfully carried by SOCAR as the operator of the project," the statement added.

The company noted that the project implementation adhered to strict safety standards and environmental regulations, utilizing the latest innovative technologies deployed in the region.

The production sharing agreement (PSA) for six blocks (the Boyterak, Terengquduq, Birqori, Kharoy, Qoraqalpoq and Qulboy blocks) in the North Ustyurt region of the Republic of Uzbekistan, was originally signed on 24 July 2025 between SOCAR, Uzbekneftegaz and the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The project is currently in its first phase, with SOCAR, as operator, undertaking seismic activities.

Following bp’s entry, the participating interests in the PSA are: bp 40%, Uzbekneftegaz 30% and SOCAR 30% (operator).
