The Formula 1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix kicks off in Baku today

The Formula 1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix kicks off in Baku today. Our capital city is hosting the world's most prestigious motorsport event for the 10th time.
The opening day of the racing weekend begins at 10:45 with the Formula 2 Free Practice. At 12:30, Formula 1 drivers will take to the track for their first Free Practice session. Two Formula 2 qualifying sessions will take place throughout the day, and the opening day will conclude with the second Formula 1 Free Practice.
Formula 1 Free Practice and the Formula 2 Sprint Race will take place on September 25, followed by the main race of the weekend on September 26.
A total of 20 drivers from 10 teams will compete in the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. Renowned drivers, including Lewis Hamilton, George Russell, Max Verstappen, Charles Leclerc, and others, will showcase their skills on the 6-kilometer Baku City Circuit.
Notably, Azerbaijan has been hosting Formula 1 races since 2016. The inaugural race held in our country was titled the "European Grand Prix" and was won by Nico Rosberg. In subsequent years, Daniel Ricciardo, Lewis Hamilton, Valtteri Bottas, Sergio Perez, Max Verstappen, and Oscar Piastri have claimed victory in Baku.
The Azerbaijan Grand Prix was canceled only once, in 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

* 12:30 – 13:30 — Free Practice 1 (FP1)
   * 16:00 – 17:00 — Free Practice 2 (FP2)
* September 25 (Friday):
* 12:30 – 13:30 — Free Practice 3 (FP3)
   * 16:00 – 17:00 — Qualifying (determines the starting grid)
* September 26 (Saturday):
* 15:00 — Grand Prix Main Race

Note: In 2026, the main race has been moved to Saturday at the request of the organizers due to a national holiday.
