Azerbaijan celebrates Ramadan holiday

Baku, March 20, AZERTAC The Ramadan holiday will be celebrated in Azerbaijan on March 20 and 21.Across the country, including in mosques located in the liberated territories, Eid prayers will be performed, accompanied by prayers for the souls of fallen martyrs.

According to information provided by the Shamakhi Astrophysical Observatory named after Nasreddin Tusi of the Ministry of Science and Education to the Caucasus Muslims Board, as well as the fatwa issued by the Fatwa Committee under the Council of Heads of Muslim Religious Boards of the Organization of Turkic States—including Türkiye, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Kyrgyzstan—the first day of Shawwal, marking Eid al-Fitr, falls on March 20 in the Gregorian calendar this year.

As in previous years, Azerbaijan is celebrating the Ramadan holiday in a festive and joyful atmosphere.

As noted in President Ilham Aliyev’s message of congratulations to the nation on the occasion of Ramadan, for centuries Azerbaijan has been one of the few places where different faiths and beliefs have coexisted peacefully in a harmonious environment.

Each year, the month of Ramadan further strengthens unity and equality among our people, becoming a celebration of kindness and good deeds.
