Azerbaijani students and scientific initiatives in spotlight in Strasbourg

The annual meeting of the ALIM scientific association on the theme "Ambassadors of Education: Azerbaijani students in France," organized with the support of the Embassy of Azerbaijan in France and the Permanent Representation of Azerbaijan to the Council of Europe, was held at the University of Strasbourg, France.

The gathering highlighted the vital role of Azerbaijani students and doctoral students, who have studied and are currently studying in France in the academic and scientific development of Azerbaijan. The meeting underscored the strategic importance of inter-university cooperation between Azerbaijani and France.

Alumni, current students, representatives of scientific and academic circles came together to engage in discussions on the internationalization of higher education, as well as the current state and prospects of academic cooperation between the two countries.

İn their remarks, Azerbaijani Ambassador to France Leyla Abdullayeva, Permanent Representative to the Council of Europe, Ambassador Fakhraddin Ismayilov and guest of honor, judge of the European Court of Human Rights Latif Huseynov highlighted the strategic importance of Azerbaijan-France academic cooperation, the role of study abroad programs in the formation of a new generation of specialists, and the contribution of Azerbaijani students educated in France to the human capital development.

The first panel, titled “Overview of Education Policy Abroad and Graduate Experiences” explored the first initiatives to send Azerbaijani students abroad in the 1990s, where speakers deliberated on historical and institutional context of that period, as well as the opportunities and challenges arising from the academic experience in France.

During the second panel discussion on the “Year of Urban Planning and Architecture” in accordance with WUF13, scheduled to take place in Azerbaijan, speakers highlighted the prospects for education in civil engineering, innovative solutions for implementation in Azerbaijan. Participants also explored growing opportunities for the industrialization of scientific projects. Discussions emphasized the advantages of the labor market in urban planning, architecture and construction in Azerbaijan, and the importance of strengthening scientific potential in engineering.

During the meeting, the ALIM scientific association presented a comprehensive report on its recent activities, scientific projects, and strategic initiatives. Participants also discussed the development prospects of the doctoral student and young researcher network, while outlining plans to further enhance cooperation between higher education institutions of Azerbaijan and France.
